Visible Horizon Project

The Horizon is a mechanical swing-lens panoramic camera which achieves effective field angles of 120’horizontally and 45 vertically to expose sharp 24mm x 58mm images onto standard 35mm film.

The Horizon camera is most often used for landscape photography. I realized that the width of view angle offered a whole new viewing experience for documentary photography. So I began a new experiment---how to use the wider width frame (11 perforations long) to record these moments. I applied different films and processes; redscale film (color negative film that is reverse loaded), expired film, 35mm movie film, and cross processing, to explore the possibilities of documentary photography using super wide lens. None of the photos from this collection are color graded. All films are original scanned negatives.
